Jamaican dancehall sensation Shenseea has once again claimed victory at the prestigious MOBO Awards, winning the title of Best Caribbean Music Act at the ceremony held on Tuesday at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle, United Kingdom. This marks her second MOBO win, further solidifying her status as a leading force in the Caribbean music industry.

The "Puni Police" singjay triumphed over strong competition, edging out fellow nominees Spice, Popcaan, YG Marley, Valiant, and Skillibeng to take home the award. Shenseea first made history in 2021 when she became the first female artist to win in the Best Reggae Act category, which had been established in 1996. In 2022, the category was rebranded as Best Caribbean Music Act to better reflect the evolving landscape of the region’s diverse music genres.
Adding to the excitement of the night, Dancehall Kingpin Vybz Kartel was honored with the Impact Award, recognizing his immense contribution to dancehall and global music culture despite his ongoing incarceration. His influence remains undeniable, inspiring a new generation of artists worldwide.
The MOBO (Music of Black Origin) Awards, founded by Kanya King and Andy Ruffell, celebrate excellence in music genres of Black origin, including hip-hop, grime, UK drill, R&B, soul, reggae, jazz, gospel, and Afrobeats. The event continues to be a significant platform for recognizing Caribbean and African musical talent on an international stage.
Shenseea’s latest MOBO win underscores her growing global impact, proving that she is not just a dancehall star but an international powerhouse. With her dynamic sound, engaging performances, and undeniable work ethic, she continues to elevate Caribbean music to new heights.
