Kes the Band is the first soca act, as well as the first from Trinidad and Tobago, to be featured in Global Spin, the Recording Academy's new digital performance series featuring musicians from around the world.
Global Spin is the new home for global music on GRAMMY.com, the official website of The GRAMMYs and the Recording Academy, and airs bimonthly on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET on the Recording Academy's YouTube channel, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts.
Each episode offers a performance by a well-known musician or group, honoring the founders as well as their homelands. Diamond Platinumz from Tanzania, B.I. from Korea, and Eme Alfonso from Cuba are among those who have starred in the series since it premiered in September.
KES played their latest track, "Jolene," which is presently the top two single on Apple Music in T&T, for their Global Spin visit. "Jolene," a combination of soca, afrobeats, calypso, and island music created by British-Trinidadian producer Dwala, provides fans a first taste of KES' forthcoming full-length album, which will be released this summer through Ineffable Records in California.
