Delayed Receipt of I-551 Green Card: Concerns After 120 Days

I arrived in the U.S. in July 2023, and it has been over 120 days since I paid the fee for my I-551 Green Card, yet it has not been received.

As an immigration consultant, I understand the frustration and concern you may be experiencing regarding the delay in receiving your I-551 Green Card. It's important to address this situation promptly to ensure that you have the proper documentation to reside and work legally in the United States.

Firstly, if you have not already done so, I highly recommend reaching out to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to inquire about the status of your Green Card. You can do this by contacting the USCIS National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283. Be prepared to provide them with your receipt number and any other relevant information they may request.

 Green Card Delay

If you've already contacted USCIS and have not received a satisfactory response, you may consider taking additional steps such as:

  1. Submitting Form I-90: If your Green Card has been lost, stolen, expired, or if you never received it, you can file Form I-90, Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card. This form can be submitted electronically or by mail.

  2. Requesting an Infopass Appointment: You can schedule an in-person appointment at your local USCIS office through the Infopass system. This can be helpful if you need to speak with an immigration officer directly about your situation.

  3. Seeking Legal Assistance: If you continue to experience difficulties or if you believe there may be underlying issues causing the delay, it may be beneficial to consult with an immigration attorney. They can provide personalized guidance and assistance in navigating the process.

It's essential to keep detailed records of all communication with USCIS, including dates, times, and any reference numbers provided. Patience is crucial in these situations, as processing delays can occur for various reasons. However, taking proactive steps to address the issue can help expedite the process and ensure that you receive your Green Card as soon as possible. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out for assistance.
